A thrilling and stupendous game at both halves. Liverpool certainly reminded me of Greece during the recent Euro championships. But make no mistake, coming back from 0-3 down to level it to 3-3 and maintain it during extra time against the world-class Italian giants is simply remarkable for Rafa Benitez's men.

After winning 2-3 on penalties, I think they truly deserve a shot at next year's Champions League because they will permanently keep their UEFA Champions League trophy as five-times winners.

Scoreline reads as follows:

Paolo Maldini (1) Steven Gerrard (54)
Hernan Crespo (39) Vladimir Smicer (56)
Hernan Crespo (44) Xabi Alonso (61)

* Liverpool win 3-2 on penalties
